Former Citigroup (NYSE: C) Employee Suing for Sexual Discrimination

Former Citigroup (NYSE: C) employee Dorly Hazan-Amir is suing the New York-based bank in a sexual discrimination lawsuit.

According to a report from the Telegraph, Hazan-Amir alleges that she received lower pay and bonuses than her male colleagues and was demoted to working below her former colleagues after returning from a maternity leave.

Hazan-Amir’s suit provided some quotes that she alleges were from the men at Citigroup she is suing. Allegedly when asking if she could attend an industry conference, she was told that she could “When you learn how to play golf.” Her director allegedly said that “I’m all for this hiring women thing, but not if it’s going to cost me three of my men every time you can’t do something.”

The suit also noted a few specific events at the company which lead to the lawsuit, including a demotion following maternity leave, starting a betting pool about how much weight she would gain from her pregnancy, not letting her come on business jokes and making sexually explicit references about her in front of other colleagues
