Several sources are reporting that Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) CEO Steve Jobs may announce Safari 5, which is reported to feature better HTML 5 support, a faster JavaScript rendering engine, and support for Bing Search, during his keynote at the World Wide Developer Conference on Monday.
The news comes after several alleged internal documents were released about Safari 5. The documents said that the new version of Safari features 25% speed boost in JavaScript performance over Safari 4, DNS prefetching, and something called Safari Reader.
The leaked images say that Safari reader will allow users to “click on the new Reader icon to view articles on the web in a single, clutter-free page.”
The new version of Safari will reportedly also include better support for HTML 5, including new features such as geolocation, full-screen HTML5 video and closed captions for HTML5 video.
Other sources also believe that Apple will release Mac OSX 10.6.4 during the event.
