Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ: MSFT) has cancelled Bing’s cash-back feature which provided search engine users a rebate on items that they purchased through Bing’s search engine after the platform was not well adopted.
Bing’s product team said that they will come back with an even better program down the line.
Although Bing has had difficulty in getting users to switch en masse away from Google, the product has received strong reviews. The cash back feature of Bing gave customers rebates of 2% to 15% when purchasing products through the search engine. Bing posted the lowest price after the cash-back first to provide customer the best deal.
To make use of the Bing cashback service, users first had to apply for an account and then the cashback money wouldn’t arrive for more than two months in some cases.
Some users reported problems getting their money back and others have reportedly saved $100s using the service.
